Conference designed to explain the concepts applicable in the event of incapacity or loss of autonomy of a loved one. We will examine the distinctions between the new protective regimes (assistance measures, temporary representation, guardianship) as well as the criteria that may give rise to these regimes since the coming into force of a new law on November 1, 2022. Finally, we will attempt to define the broad outlines surrounding the use of protective mandates and\/or powers of attorney, and the associated dangers, by means of case studies.<\/p>\n

An interactive workshop in which we review the basics of the content of a demand letter, which is necessary before filing a lawsuit, and stage a mock trial in Small Claims Court. We also review the most important civil legal concepts to keep in mind before initiating proceedings (prescription, burden of proof, damages, etc.).<\/p>\n

In the life of a couple, the purchase of a property is usually a happy event, but also a stressful one, requiring many decisions to be made, given the importance of this investment. You should be aware that your marital status (married or common-law) and even the time in your life when the purchase is made (before or during marriage) can have an impact on the value you receive. This workshop is designed to provide tools for practitioners supporting parents whose family situation is before the courts, either before the Family Division or the Youth Division – and sometimes, incidentally, before the Criminal Court. This interactive presentation will first identify the distinctions between proceedings before these two bodies, and provide some food for thought on intervention methods and their impact on the judicial process. The concepts of child custody and child support will also be explored, particularly in light of the themes of abandonment and parental conflict. Finally, an overview of legal information resources will complete this training program, which is designed to bring together the worlds of intervention and law.<\/p>\n
